About us...

Catprint Theatre Company Inc was founded in 2011.

Initially Catprint was established to fill an increasing need for non-musical community based theatre in Warburton for adults. Originally auspiced by the Yarra Valley Youth Theatre in 2011, it became Incorporated and independent in 2013. As it grew and expanded over the years, so did its philosophy of inclusiveness as well as its play type diversity.

In 2019 the group changed its name from "Catprint Warburton Theatre Productions" to "Catprint Theatre Company" to represent the move away from a Producer/Production House structure, into a new team based method of operation. CTC is managed and run by a committee, which oversees the official Production Team, cast & crew, as they work together to create our shows in a safe space for all.

Catprint is a non-profit Incorporated Association committed to presenting the best quality LOCAL community theatre that we can. All the profits from our shows goes back into our next production and we are always looking for new ways to increase our member base, revenue and ticket sales.

Mission Statement

"Catprint strives to create high-quality, low-budget productions

for the valley, by the valley, with an emphasis on

professionalism, teamwork & inclusion."

How did Catprint get its name?

Catprint founder, Claire Bamford, is slave to four cats who are always willing to lend a paw to any of her undertakings. They invariably like to mark all her artwork, painting, page layouts and graphics with their 'prints' much to her amusement. Their favourite passtime however, is helping with murals and their pawprints can be found on all of them if you know where to look. The name was adopted as a reminder to not take life (or theatre) too seriously and that having a laugh along the way makes the journey much more fun.

Closure

The committee voted unanimously to cease operations at the 2021 AGM and has thus closed officially. Impacted by covid, falling volunteer numbers, and the exhaustion of the remaining few, have made this end unfortunately inevitable.

As an organisation over 10 years we have;

- put on 27 performances

- over a total of 60 days

- at 3 different venues

- with almost 3000 audience members

- there were a total 350 performers on stage

- suported by 108 crew members

Massive thank yous to all those who made such a fantastic accomplishment possible over so many years. We hope you have all enjoyed our shows as much as we have enjoyed performing them for you.
